A small departure from the photos of Beacon and Maryland. I took this photo while on my way to the family reunion the first weekend in August (almost three months ago already!). This is a photo of a small protected forest near the Neversink Reservoir in NY.
I took this photo in color, knowing that I would convert it to black and white in post-processing. It came out better than expected.
There are two things that make this an eerie place:
- All of the branches have been snapped off. I don't know why this has happened, or even if it's a natural thing for this type of tree.
- There is absolutely no underbrush. This is a very odd thing, as there is definitely underbrush (whether it be ferns or laurel bushes) in just about every forest I've explored as a kid.
Anybody know for sure? Maybe I'm just crazy.
