Out on Alyssa's family's boat in the bay off Long Island, I was alerted to an Osprey flying directly overhead. I tilted the camera up and here's what came out of it.
The boat wasn't stationary at the time, so it's not the clearest photo, but I was surprised at the level of detail I was able to capture with the impromptu metering against the bright overcast sky.
The ospreys are coming back in a big way out on Long Island. They were threatened from DDT (a pesticide used for spraying farms, which would wash off farms and into the ground water) just like the Eagles and other fish-eating raptors. We saw plenty of huge nests dotting the coastline along the bay on the way to Greenport, from Jamesport.

This photo isn't spectacular in its own right, I just wanted to share it, since I don't see these birds all that often. (especially not in upstate New York)
