And we've moved into the new house! It's been a crazy few weeks, because in addition to the house-moving, it's also crunch-time at work again. I don't like to talk about it much on here, but work has been taking up a huge part of my time lately.

Anyway! If you're friends with me on Facebook, you will notice that I've been posting a ton of photos of our new kittens via Instagram. It's only a matter of time before I start posting photos here too. Consider this your warning!

This photo was taken from the walkway on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge of the MTA train heading north towards Poughkeepsie.

Veins

And here's the final leaf photo in the set. These leaves were seen on a downed branch on the Mt. Beacon trail. I wanted to get the veins in the leaves as sharp as possible. I took dozens of photos trying to get the right mixture of settings. I'm very happy with the results. Hope you enjoy!

The Bridge and the River

I wanted to post the third leaf photo I have, but I didn't appear to have emailed it to myself. Instead, I'm posting an alternative crop of the recently posted Beacon photo. These photos were taken on the same day. I took a bunch of photos that day, trying to get the settings just right in manual mode.

It's nice spending the day walking around taking photos. I really should do it more often!

Stone and Leaf

I don't really do many staged photos, but this is an exception. I placed this leaf on this rock and took a photo of it. I even found the perfect leaf a few paces away from the rock. It was rather difficult to do.

Most of the photos you see on this website are of locations and things as I found them, as they naturally appear. This is much easier.

Autumn Leavings

I've got a few black and white photos saved up from my trip up Mt. Beacon at the end of the Fall. This is one of those photos.

The next few photos will primarily feature leaves! What would autumn be without the leaves?

The Good Times

Quite a bit happening for me lately. Every time I think I'm getting near to closing on this house, they move the wire further away.

This graffiti can be seen on the East end of Main Street, right next to the falls outside of the Beacon Roundhouse.

Commenting has been disabled due to a huge amount of comments spam. Will be investigating commenting alternatives once my life calms down a bit.

Grass Routes

A closeup of a guitar case (or mandolin case, I can't quite remember which) belonging to a member of the Sleepy Hollow String Band. This photo was taken at the Coffee Shoppe in Beacon, NY at the local artists opening.

The Sleepy Hollow String Band will be playing Whistling Willies in Cold Spring on the January 21st at 8 pm. I'll be there, you should be too!

Frozen Gears

Another part of the machinery at the top of Mt. Beacon. All this equipment is located in the husk of a brick house exposed to the elements. It has been painted a brown color to prevent some rusting, but the effects of its dormant state for the last 30 years is very evident.

Broken Machine

Remnants of the old train pulley system for Mt. Beacon. The train was originally built as a means of transportation to the mountain top casino at Mt. Beacon, but was destroyed in a fire some time ago. There is an initiative to restore the railway here. It will need to be rebuilt from scratch judging from the current state of the warped tracks and destroyed and graffiti-ridden remains.

Tiles

This photo is a close-up of the tiles decorating the outside of a mosque in Beacon, NY. The building stands out in Beacon since it's of a completely different style than the other buildings.

I loved the symmetry and style of the tile work, so I had to take a photo of it.
