Mont Saint-Michel is an island stronghold which only used to be accessible during low-tide. They've made a land-bridge to access the island now, but it is not difficult to imagine it sitting out alone at sea.
We had beautiful weather which really helped out with my photography. Get ready for some beautiful color photos!
The island is displayed prominently in Bernard Cornwell's The Winter King as one of the last holdouts in Armorica against the invading Franks. This book is amazing and part of a wonderful retelling of the King Arthur tales. I heartily recommend it, especially the audiobooks because they are narrated by Jonathan Keeble.
